Committee of Finance to meet with the Minister of Finance and representatives of CBCS, concerning discussions on various matters relating to relief by Commercial Bank on Thursday

 

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten- The Finance Committee of Parliament will meet in a session on March 18, 2021.

The committee meeting, which was adjourned on February 18, 2021 will be reconvened on Thursday at 9.00 hrs. at the House of the Parliament of Sint Maarten. The Minister of Finance and representatives of CBCS will be in attendance.

The agenda point is:

Discussion on matters relating to the moratoriums given to individuals and businesses by the individual banking institutions, studies or analysis performed by CBCS to determine the viability of the commercial banks in their exercise to assist their clients by providing temporary relief in the form of a moratorium, discussions the CBCS has had with the Banker’s Association concerning the sustainability of the moratoriums granted thus far, and the reason(s) the debt service ratio of 37 percent is no longer allowed when granting loans (IS/206/2020-2021 dated November 27, 2020 and IS/229/2020-2021 dated December 7, 2020)

This meeting was requested by MP R. Brison, MP G.C. Pantophlet, MP C.T. Emmanuel.

Due to measures taken to mitigate the coronavirus (COVID-19), the House of Parliament is only allowing persons with an appointment to enter the Parliament building.
